Veteran Fisherman
....
-I was a sailor too, my son. I served as a quartermaster. My military service number is 52/5421. Fehmi Paytoncu, a private on the 2nd Fleet Gaziantep destroyer.
-Where did you do your military service, Grandpa Fehmi?
-We were always on the ship. We traveled all over the world. My grandfather was martyred in Atatürk's war. They told me to stay too, but I didn't stay under the yoke. I wish I had stayed, I regret it..
-Do you have any children, Grandpa Fehmi?
-I lost my wife in '75. At her graveside, I said to my children that I would never marry them again. I have been alone since then. I never let my children hear the sound of motherhood. Now my daughter is taking care of us, God bless her..
-How old were you, Grandpa Fehmi?
-I was born in 1932. The 6th of the second month..
We are the children of Ataturk, my child....

My grandfather Fehmi was the oldest fisherman of Tekirdag. I am very sorry. Unfortunately, I learned that he left us. I got to know him through the photo. He allowed me to be a guest in his heart. We became grandfather and grandson in a way. However, all these memories remained only in my photos.. I am conveying the quatrain he constantly told me to you and I wish God's mercy on him. May he rest in peace, God willing..
